Animals at LBJ State Park, Stonewall, TX

We are amazed at the number of Axis Deer at the park.  From our trailer, each evening or late afternoon we see the herd come out from the woods.  There are several bucks but one must be the "grand daddy".

Two Guineas from the Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm come for a visit most evenings.  One evening they started following the Axis.

The White-tailed Deer seem to be among the tall grass and flowers. On one of our evening walks, we saw movement in the grass along a trail.  We were surprised to see this very young fawn.  We saw first hand what we've heard about - Mom leaving the baby and coming back for it later.

More Wildflowers at LBJ State Park, Stonewall, TX

It seems that each day we see more beautiful wildflowers.  A few Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush are holding on, but now we are seeing an abundance of Indian Blankets, various daisies, Cone Flowers, Mexican Hats, Horsemint and Silverleaf Nightshade.
