Fort Bridger State Historic Site, WY

Fort Bridger is located in southwest WY about 30 miles east of Evanston, WY.  The site was established by Jim Bridger and Louis Vasquez in 1843 as an emigrant supply stop along the Oregon Trail. It was obtained by the Mormons in the early 1850s, and then became a military outpost in 1858.  In the 1930's, the site also had a few cottages/cabins for folks traveling on Lincoln Highway. In 1933, the property was dedicated as a Wyoming Historical Landmark and Museum.

 

 

A replica of the old fort has been built at the historic site.

Historic Trail Depot - Cheyenne, WY

The historic Union Pacific Depot in Cheyenne has been restored into a beautiful building which houses.  The first floor museum tells the story of the Cheyenne beginnings during the construction of the Transcontinental Railroad, the Union Pacific Depot and the Railroad for which it is named.  The second floor contains the world's most popular and loved narrow gauge model railroads, the Union Central and Northern (UC&N).  The model officially opened in 2012.  Harry S Brunk of Clarkson, NE spent over 30 years hand-crafting everything from scenery to the rolling stock for this HO scale model of the narrow gauge Clear Creek (Colorado) Lines of the Colorado and Southern Railway.  While the layout is very well known, it has never left Mr. Brunk’s residence or been on public display until now.

 

 

Medicine Bow Peak Trail, Snowy Range, WY

Medicine Bow Peak is the highest peak Wyoming's Snowy Range.  We walked part of the trail and saw these beautiful views

The Snowy Range is part of the Rocky Mountains about 30 miles from Laramie.  There are many beautiful lakes and hiking trails.

Rocky Mountain National Park, CO

Moraine Park is an area on the way to Bear Lake.

The views of Bear Lake and the surrounding area are beautiful!!

We drove the Trail Ridge Road from Estes Park to the Alpine Visitors Center. The highlight was a beautiful rainbow at the Rainbow Curve Overlook and the wildlife.

 

 

We had a nice hike from the Hollewell Park Trailhead toward Bierstadt Lake - waterfalls, various types of mushrooms, variety of flowers and beautiful scenery.
