Mackinaw City, MI

Mackinaw City is on the northern point of the lower peninsula.

The McGulpin Point Lighthouse was built in 1869 and extinguished in 1906. It was privately owned from 1913-2009.  Now it is now open to the public.

Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse was built in 1892 and was rendered obsolete by the opening of the Mackinac Bridge in 1957.

Mackinac Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Straits of Mackinac to connect the upper and lower peninsula.  Opened in 1957 it is the world's 16th longest in total suspension (about 5 miles) and the longest suspension bridge between anchorages in the Western hemisphere.
