Sea Rim State Park-near Sabine Pass, TX

In 2008 Hurricane Ike destroyed all the facilities at Rim State Park.  Some new facilities have been re-built as well as a new campground.

McFaddin National Wildlife Refuge, TX

McFaddin NWR is located on the Texas Gulf Coast near Port Arthur.  Surprised to see this brown pelican on the refuge road.

Feral Hogs-East Unit Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge, TX

Feral hogs are domestic hogs that have escaped or have been released for hunting purposes.  Unfortunately, there are such great numbers now that they have become a nuisance and cause much damage.  One day on the refuge, 360 feral hogs were shot from a helicopter.  There are still many more.  We saw this one on the East Unit of Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge.
